Why get CCST IT Support

When you're job hunting within six months in a market that lists A+ by name: save toward A+ instead, or do the Google IT Support Certificate first and use its 30% A+ discount. Note this cert bridges sideways (to CCST Networking or Cybersecurity), not upward — unlike CCST Networking, there's no natural Cisco follow-on above it.

What makes it different from A+ in content?
It's leaner (one 50-minute exam vs two 90-minute ones) and more current in spots — ticketing/SLA/KPI workflows, remote-support tooling, and AI-assisted troubleshooting are first-class topics, which A+ covers lightly or not at all. A+ goes deeper on hardware minutiae and has broader OS coverage. For the actual day-one job, the content gap is smaller than the recognition gap.
What comes after it?
Sideways, then up: CCST IT Support has no direct Cisco cert above it. The natural moves are CCST Networking → CCNA (infrastructure lane) or CCST Cybersecurity → Security+ (security lane), decided by which tickets you enjoy most after a few months in the seat.
Does it expire?
Earned before July 15, 2025: lifetime. On or after: 5 years, exam-only renewal (any current CCST or higher Cisco exam). CE credits don't apply at this tier.
