About CertBlueprint

An independent IT certification directory and career navigator, built to cut through marketing noise.

What CertBlueprint is

CertBlueprint is a structured IT certification reference. For each certification, we cover what it actually tests, who it is and is not for, when it makes sense in a career sequence, and where to study—both free and paid resources, with honest assessments of each.

Alongside the guides, the free IT Career Navigator helps people who do not yet know which part of IT suits them. It describes what each role involves day to day—including the downsides—and matches your answers to the kinds of work you gravitate toward. The assessment runs entirely in your browser: no account, and your answers are not sent to us.

We also make NetDrill, a network simulator that runs in your browser. You configure routers, switches and PCs from the command line, and each lab is graded on what the network does. Its labs are mapped to the CCNA and CCNP exam objectives, so the guides and role pages here link to the labs that practice what they describe, and say each time that NetDrill is ours. It is free during its beta, with no account.

How content is written and checked

CertBlueprint is a small operation, and we use AI writing tools to help research and draft content. We do not publish that output unchecked. Hard facts—exam codes, prices, question counts, durations, passing scores, retirement dates—are checked against the certification vendor's official pages before they go live, and every certification guide shows the date its facts were last verified.

Judgement calls—which certification to take first, whether a role is realistic as a first job, which study resources are worth the money—are editorial opinion informed by vendor documentation, published job requirements, and widely shared candidate experience. We label salary figures as directional, and we say so when the honest answer is "it depends".

The site also has one feature where a live AI model responds to you directly: the Navigator Lab conversation. It is labelled as AI on the page, and the roles and trials it links to come from our own checked data rather than from the model.

If you find something wrong, tell us. Corrections are made on the page itself and the verification date is updated.

Who operates this site

CertBlueprint is a project by SureWhyNot, a small independent software and content operation. We build focused tools and reference sites for specific audiences who need accurate, structured information without the noise.

SureWhyNot is not affiliated with any certification vendor, and it does not sell courses or exam prep. Apart from NetDrill, the practice simulator described above, we are a reference publisher. Our job is to help you understand what a cert covers and whether it makes sense for you—before you spend time and money on it.

How the site is funded

CertBlueprint is free to use and is supported in two ways: display advertising served by Google AdSense, and affiliate links. Advertising is placed by Google, and we do not accept payment to feature, rank, or review a certification, course, or vendor.

Some outbound links to courses and practice exams are affiliate links. Purchasing through them earns CertBlueprint a small commission at no extra cost to you. Resources are selected on content alignment with the official exam objectives and community track record, and we include them whether or not they have an affiliate program—several of the resources we recommend most often are entirely free. The Career Navigator never ranks a role or path higher because it earns anyone money. Links to NetDrill are first-party, not affiliate links, and the free-resource lists still include the other tools we would recommend without it. See our affiliate disclosure and privacy policy for details.

Independence and accuracy

CertBlueprint is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Cisco, CompTIA, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, EC-Council, or any other certification body referenced on the site. All certification names, exam codes, and vendor trademarks are the property of their respective owners and are used here for informational purposes only.

Exam details including pricing, format, passing scores, and topic coverage change periodically. We update content as changes occur, but always direct readers to verify current details on the official vendor site before purchasing a voucher or scheduling an exam.
